What Is Sclerotherapy?
Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate spider veins located in the legs. Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a water based solution directly into the vein causing the vein to collapse and ultimately disappear in time. A follow up treatment is usually required (at no additional cost).

What should you expect during your sclerotherapy treatment?
During your complimentary consultation, Marylou Howard RN will perform a complete medical evaluation of your veins to determine if sclerotherapy is medically appropriate. Once your evaluation process is completed the "sclerosing" agent is injected into the vein. The chemical causes inflammation in the walls of the vein, causing them to swell shut and stick together. Each vein can require several injections and veins generally disappear in weeks to months. Results may continue to improve for up to one year. When the needle is withdrawn, pressure is immediately applied to the area and the area is often massaged to distribute the solution. The procedure is usually painless, though you may experience a slight burning, itching or tingling sensation. Veins can require several injections and veins generally disappear within a few months. Most patients require multiple sessions in order to fully treat their spider veins.
